WEEK FOUR: EXECUTION

Some of you may have slept well knowing you did the right thing. Other of you may have tossed and turned, struggling with feelings of guilt and unease. Regardless of which group you fit into, it doesn't change the fact that on Sunday morning all guests will find themselves compelled to head to the front door. When all have gathered, the door will swing open and allow the group to witness a scene on the front lawn.

Lio has been set out in his metal cage, isolated from the rest of the group. It isn't long before Peach, Plum and Pumpkin appear from another part of the yard wheeling a large box. Stopping in front of the cage, the trio begins to speak.

"We gather here today to say goodbye to our dear friend, Lio Fotia.

Lio Fotia was usually mad
But maybe it hid the fact he was sad
And even though he was making new friends
He found himself changing in the end
A fire was set in his heart and soul
As the dragon swarmed and achieved its goal
So to save him we give a final blow
...well...good luck, Galo."

Three pairs of eyes turn and lock on a face in the crowd.

"Galo, it's time.

It seems as though Galo doesn't have a choice. The moment the girls summon the chosen party, they will find themselves walking forward against their best judgment. All other guests will be unable to step past the threshold, but nothing's stopping them from leaving either.

[Once Galo approaches the girls, they unlock three latches to unhinge the box and reveal the contents inside. Though the group of spectators cannot see inside this box, Galo will recognize something very important inside.

Once he has selected an item, the girls close the box and wheel it out of the way. It's Peach who turns to speak to Galo then.]

...you can do this. [The girls step off to the side...and Lio's cage slowly swings open.]

[Galo struts - and the word is definitely struts - outside to go kill his boyfriend. He's glaring, arms crossed, but as soon as he looks in the box, his expression transforms into a big cocky grin. In a soft voice, he says -]

Thanks, Peach.

[And then he switches to his dumb firefighter voice. It sounds even goofier than usual, like he’s bitten his tongue or something.]

That’s right, everyone! I’m going to need all of you to stand back! This fire’s about to burn out of control! And I heard a rumor there’s a scary Mad Burnish boss in there somewhere, spitting flames. But no need to worry —

[He reaches into the box and puts on some kind of metal vest, and then pulls out some kind of bulky staff, which he waves in the air.]

With my trusty matoi and my burning soul, no fire on earth stands a chance, not even a dragon!

[He faces the cage where Lio is trapped, and the staff begins to spin, emitting a burst of ice cold air.]

You hear that, Lio! I’m a firefighter, and I’m going to extinguish your flames and rescue you! So hang on!

[madburnout]

[Despite the fact he had managed to gain enough control back at points of the night to be the Lio you recognize, he certainly isn’t now. He’s already snarling, slamming at the edges of the cage right before it opens - the Dragon eye of the mask rolling in rage. Some of you, if you’re paying close attention, might see on the bare side of his still human face two dark marks. In case you were wondering about that.

You don’t see it for very long though, because someone is getting longer by the second. And longer? And longer. It seems someone has really pushed the limits of what your monster size can be, by just making him long and barely small enough to fit through doorways.

It isn’t quite the shape that those who have seen his memories are familiar with, but it’s close. The body itself isn’t made of fire, instead it’s typical dragon scales, dragon claws, dragon teeth, with a mane of fire. Not the pathetic orange and red of loser flames, but a neon array of green and pink and blue. It’d almost be beautiful, if it wasn’t so murderous. It also doesn’t seem to have much patience for Galo and his shonen speeches. Giving that same (almost sad) shriek-wail noise, before launching itself directly at Galo, trying to immediately bite him in half. ]

[Galo darts to the side, twirling the matoi and using it as a fan to blow more ice and fog in Lio's direction - it's not only cold, but it's made of extinguishing fluid, meant to put out Burnish fire - but it also reduces visibility.]

I get it. Enough messing around, right?

[As the fog clears, Galo is standing there, facing down Lio, holding the staff in front of him like a weapon.]

Even staring into the jaws of defeat, that ancient spirit shines brightly!

[Galo takes his staff, spins it once more like a baton, and then tosses it in the air. He crosses his arms, as it lodges in to some kind of crevice in the back of the blocky vest he’s wearing. As soon as he does this, there’s a burst of freezing cold air again, obscuring Galo for a moment as the staff begins to transform into a robot suit]

Matoi Tech 2.0, Blue Edition! Lock on!

[At the top of the matoi, two flashing lights like a fire truck blink - both blue.

Galo gives a salute - or maybe he’s blowing a kiss - to the crowd watching, and then pumps a fist of the robot in the air, striking a victorious pose]

(Transformation sequence at 3:30 to 4:01)

[It thrashes around wildly when its hit in the face with ice and fog, only louder and angrier now. Dragons do not talk, they just screech and roar, but its shrieking could almost be words and they sound something like



Then it seems to remember, oh, yeah,

And shoots a jet of white hot flame at him instead. Hope everyone is standing back!]

[burningrescue]

Attacking while I'm posing! You're better than that, Lio!

[The flames hit Galo head on, but this time, he doesn't even appear to attempt to dodge out of the way. Instead, he pushes forward, running through the jet of flames with a crazy grin on his face, and with a swing of the mech's clenched fist, appears to punch dragon Lio directly in the mouth.]

Snap out of it!

[There's the sound of something breaking - and something that looks like a bright green cue ball falls to the ground, cracked in half.]

[Seems like a waste of good protection items when you are in a mech, idiot. Anyway, all he's done is put his arm (or, well, the Mech's arm) directly into his mouth. Clamping down with all of those dragon teeth and shaking like a dog with a squeaky toy. Or a dragon with a Far Eastern Island's Proud Firefighting Tradition Inspired Mech, fire snorting out of his nose. Flinging him off to the far side of the garden, as far as he can throw him.]

I figured he was big seeing him alongside all those buildings, but there's seeing it in a weird memory and seeing it for real, huh?

[ Hi Ash is right up at the barrier too. Nice Mech, Galo, but he's seen bigger. ]

Yeah, no fucking kidding.

[inaudibly]

[Nic look like hell warmed over and also deeply confused.]

Did Galo turn into a robot?
[Mostly fingerspelled. He's not seeing things, right?]

[He feels kind of bad for thinking this is really cool, but like. This is really cool. As Galo’s mech suit emerges:]

I never saw him like this, but - I can't even imagine how that'd look.

[ hey sup ash how's it going. also, shouting: ] Galo! Don't die, please, don't fuck around!

[ that's what she said-- ]

I kinda feel like I'm watchin' a movie right now.

[ she catches it out of the side of her eye and nods. ]

He did, you saw right. [ a beat. ] ... Fuck, your poor arm.

[pornography]

[ nope he's right along with you hunter in thinking that this is really cool ]

I've seen bigger.

[Yeah, that was dumb, huh? You can hear Galo shouting as he's shaken like a dog, definitely losing a bit of his bravado as the robot arm inside dragon Lio's mouth snaps off, and his mech goes flying. In midair, the other arm reaches into that notch on his back, and pulls out a long stick with a hook on the end. He uses the hook to catch on the side of the house as he's tossed and brake his fall - but he still bounces against the ground before he leaps back up to his feet.]

You'll have to do better than that, Lio!

[He holds the stick with the hook on the end out in Lio's direction.]

I know you can beat that thing. I can go for long as you need, until you break its hold on you! It's like 45 said - if I believe in myself enough, I can do it!

[And then he presses something on the stick, and it begins to shoot ice bullets in Lio's direction.]

[voidbreaker]

It looks kinda different here, but he looked like he was just permanently on fire the whole time so maybe that's a damn blessing.

[ sup beau, are you suffering. ]

I wonder if they'll let us take a closer look at that suit of his later...

I've never seen such a thing before.........

[ hello? robots?? what the heck ]

Looks like power armor of some sort? Specialized just for fighting fires, it seems, but it's pretty carefully designed regardless...

[ that sure as hell is an interesting technological development, but then his Earth is just ??? so she's just going to accept it at face value. ]

Fuck. I don't think this is how this works, Galo can't just fight him until he wears himself out.
