WELCOME

Even from behind your eyelids, the soft glowing light can be seen as you find yourself awakening. The slow swell of strings begins, and as you struggle to open your eyes, the sound of footsteps pass you by. You soon hear three feminine voices speak in unison.

"Master Blue wishes to welcome you all. We hope you enjoy your stay!"

Light temporarily blinds you as you look around, but the source of the voices has vanished. Whomever has greeted you seems to have disappeared without warning, leaving you all alone.

The music starts up and though no orchestra is present, the song can be heard all throughout the room. Crystal chandeliers hang above your head, and the waxed wooden floor gleams brightly. Floor to ceiling windows cover the back wall and a night sky full of stars twinkle back at you. The wall next to it, however, is covered by a thick crimson curtain. Those who attempt to move it will find they have little luck in their endeavor, but there are more pressing matters at hand.

Looking down you'll come to notice that you're wearing clothes that certainly aren't what you were previously wearing. You, and the guests around you, have been dressed appropriately in formal attire properly fitted for each individual.

Oh. That's right. Didn't we mention the other guests? Seated to your left, right, and across from you at the long banquet table are other people just like you. Perhaps it's a friend you know, though don't be surprised if it's a complete stranger. Each individual holds a blue and silver invitation with their name scrawled upon it, and a message to follow.

"Please respond to Master Blue's invitation at least one week prior to the event to secure your seat and accommodations.

This dinner is guaranteed to be an event to die for."

Strange, isn't it?

But rest assured! Nothing is stopping you from leaving the ballroom and exploring the other rooms of Master Blue's home. After all, you're an honored guest! It's with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that you're welcomed here tonight. Really, what's your hurry? It's not as though the front door will open for you. Don't bother with the windows either. They've all been locked tight to ensure you're all nice and cozy for your stay.

If you look under your seat, you'll find a special gift bag with your name on it. Opening these bags will reveal the following:

-A small spiral notebook
-A crayon in a specific shade of blue
-Three different candles
-A brass key (Design May Vary.)
-This cute toy

A welcome gift from the Master, of course.

Take some time to admire the decor, if you will. The house has been decorated for this special holiday with chains of paper hearts, miniature golden cupid statues, and confetti that rains down from the ceiling on occasion. Perhaps you'll get lucky tonight with love in the air, especially since Cupid's arrow seems to aim for you no matter where you go. For those of you who don't wish to partake in the lavish feast spread out in the ballroom, you're in luck. Boxes of chocolate and bowls of candy hearts can be found for all your snacking needs.

As the unseen orchestra plays on, it seems as though you've no choice but to get to know your fellow guests and make yourselves comfortable. Perhaps if you wait long enough, someone will come to greet you.

[Stealing is bad.

Violence is also bad! Subete talks about aiming hostility so casually. Zenitsu isn't sure that he feels the same way. What's more, he doesn't know what he can do other than follow the people who seem to have better heads on their shoulders. The advice is a bit miss with him as a result.]

Can't we just ask Master Blue to let us leave early when he shows up?

[Is it really stealing, though, if you're just mass migrating silverware from one spot in the house to a different spot in the house.

Sometimes you just have to invent your own use for the amenities when you're hit with cabin fever; and while Subete doesn't approve of everything going on with the betting ring, it's possibly still a better use of time, he thinks, than trying to blow things up or destroying things. It just -- is predicated sometimes on those things. Oops. Violence just happens here, apparently.]

Well. Of course we can ask. I'm just thinking about whether we want to look at other options, too. And whether we can really stop these guys...

Do all the other options involve violence? Zenitsu wants to be far away when that happens. Caught up in his own hysteria, however, he hasn't seen the true extent of the damage around them.]

[Plum can probably make several educated guesses based on the current state of the betting ring, natch.

There are so many options that involve violence. So many. For the moment, they've both been pretty lucky about staying out of the epicentre of disaster, though in Subete's case it is definitely more deliberate! Zenitsu might just have a coward's good luck in general, though.]

What I told you: keep your head down and let things be as loud as they want. You can also try and band together with those looking for quieter solutions. Either way, I think all you really need to do is pay attention to what's happening around you.

[Is it really okay to tell him to drop the hysteria and smell the disaster roses.]

[Even if he can't hear as well as he used to, he can pick up on the implications of those words. After all, who'd believe that he's paying attention when he's contributing to the noise pollution himself? Subete is giving him solid advice for a very strange situation and Zenitsu can appreciate that.]

Haha... You don't really need to thank me. These are mostly things I learned from-- from others. From back home. And they're things I tell myself.

[Well, they're still in the hallway, probably with multiple cupid statues staring at them. So it might behoove them to get out of it before Zenitsu has another unfortunate encounter...? And Subete would really like to save his eardrums at least some of the time. He's got low standards here.

He'll hold out a hand to help him up?]

So... You ready to get up and look around? Did you get a chance to look at your gift bag yet?

[This is a pretty nice guy. Zenitsu takes the hand and gets back onto his feet. At the mention of the gift bag, he looks around for it.]

That's right! I dropped it when the statue startled me. Here it is.

[Picking it up, he pops the bag open and peers into it.]

I took a look earlier, but I think there were some more things that I didn't see.

[He pulls out the toy. And sniffles.]

Some kind of strange Valentine's-themed toy? I don't really get it, but it, uh, goes with the theme of the dinner. The hearts and stuff.

[He's trying to talk around the fact that this Valentine's dinner is apparently catered to yanderes?? Maybe literally?? Maybe that's part of the reason they're in the process of destroying the dining area, who knows. Let's not get too deep into it.

Subete will just. Hold up his own bag that he's just sort of carrying around. The writing utensils he's taken out and the candles and other things he's left in. So...]

It's pretty normal to have these sorts of themed bags at events. I'm getting some good use out of the notepad.

[It's a toy, clearly, but why is there a toy shaped like a knife here! Coupled with the ominous wording on the invitation, isn't this a little too much? Zenitsu doesn't think about the hearts; he thinks about the shape of the toy and the words "to die for."]
