WEEK ZERO: MINGLE
WEEK ZERO
OCCUPANCY: 36
For those of you counting along, you'll find that it's been three days since you've arrived at Master Blue's mansion. On this lovely Monday morning, the weak winter sun shines in through the spotless windows. The curtains in the ballroom have been drawn closed and cannot be moved away from the back wall during the daylight hours. The scent of a hot and delicious breakfast wafts from the direction of the dining hall at 7am, and small creaks and groans in the house urge you to awaken.
Perhaps you're a late riser though. No matter! There's still plenty of food you can make for yourself and ways for you to amuse yourself. Though the decor's been taken down, leftover Valentine's candy remains abundant, and a chilly breeze drifts through the halls. Best of all, all damage inflicted on the house has been repaired. In addition, a new placard has been mounted in the entryway.
As you carry on with your day in the mansion and explore the rooms provided, you may come to find that starting today it will appear as though you've all lost the use of one of your senses. Your vision may have grown dim, or maybe you really can't smell the enticing treats in the dining hall after all. How unfortunate.
Then again, something doesn't seem quite right. Walking through the halls, nothing seems terribly out of place. However, turning the corner or entering a room you will find someone who looks a little too much like yourself behaving in a fairly inappropriate manner. You would never read something so lewd. Who would ever think that you would wear something so pink? These mannerisms may seem innocent to others, but you can't help but disapprove.
Too bad no one else can see them.
Come Monday at noon, you will also find a new surprise. The wooden box with your name on it can now be opened, and a rustling crackle of static can be heard from overhead. Try as you might, you won't be able to find the speakers but this message will play loud and clear for all.

[ the one room ash hasn't gone in is the study because who needs to study amirite? not the literal student, that's for sure. but he's looking for something to do, and the study is somewhere new so. here he is.
immediately zeroing in on the desk and the drawers that are so very suspiciously locked. if you wander in you'll probably catch him mid drawer rattle. the longer his attempts to get into the drawers have going on, the angrier the rattling is -- in fact the paperweights on the desk? seem to be rattling as well?
eventually, after one particularly angry shake, a couple of them roll onto the floor with various thuds and bangs. one of them even lands right on ash's foot, but he doesn't seem to react to it? weird. ]
Is there any damn thing in this place that isn't locked??
ii.
[ enter the kitchen sometime between lunch and dinner, outside of the normal food hours, and you might smell something good.
choosing to ignore the logic that having no sense of touch could actually be an issue when picking up pans or cutting stuff with a knife, ash is cooking. there are two frying pans on the burners, and two pots that are bubbling away. ]
If you're hungry sit down. I've overjudged half this stuff anyway, there's gonna be extras.
[ luckily it doesn't look like he's bleeding into anything, but there is an intense look of concentration on his face as he cracks a couple of eggs into one of the pans -- like he's really having to check to make sure he actually grabbed the eggs in the first place. ]
iii.
[ welcome to lounge. there's not much to see here, other than ash literally just. lying there in the middle of the room, looking slowly more annoyed at the ever-present jazz music coming from wherever the heck it's coming from.
there's definitely a glass of something next to him. and the liquor cabinet looks pretty raided -- doors open, some bottles (still full) discarded on the side, and a couple on the ground not too far from him. nothing to see here. ]
iii.
[GOOD NEWS: working at a bar means Akira is used to dealing with drunk people]
[so he's just gonna. wordlessly approach the downed Ash and pick up the glass of something so he can't drink anymore]
Tiiiiime to cut you off. It's not even noon yet.
no subject
[ He doesn't sound drunk. And he knows his limits. ]
Some of the stuff in there is potent smelling.

i, monday
except, no, Ayabe can feel his chest tightening, but the state of the room isn't terrible yet that he can't fix this, stumbling into the room and picking up the paperweights that have fallen onto the floor. He holds them in his arms for a moment, and then chooses to set them down somewhere else besides the desk Ash is assaulting. ]
This is somebody's personal space, so I wouldn't be surprised that it's locked. What were you looking for? The floor plan?
no subject
[ He rattles the drawer again, looking a little more ticked off this time. ]
no subject
...Try tipping the desk back. We can at least try and hear for anything inside the drawers, whether there's paper or nothing at all.
[ Ash will have to do all the hearing, though, because Ayabe's going deaf. Not completely, yet, but things are definitely already muffled. ]

[ Here's Isaac leaning in the doorway, his good arm ... awkwardly folded over his ... sling arm?? he definitely thinks he looks cool (he doesn't). ]
I tried those things the day we got here and they wouldn't budge. [ A pause, and he'll kind of ... peer at Ash. ]
Didn't that hurt?
no subject
Didn't what hurt?
[ There's another rattle. ]
Drawers aren't that strong, it's gotta bust open eventually.

[she's rather excited? anya's been cooking up stuff too, but then she'll wander in and hum happily at the idea of being able to enjoy someone else's meal]
Do you need help?
no subject
Hm?
... Nah, I think I've got the cooking part under control. You can grab a plate if you really wanna help.
no subject
[a little salute!
and she will go to do so - but similarly to how he handled the egg, she's being extra extra extra careful about holding the plate. it might even seem like she's holding onto it a bit more tightly than necessary but
better safe than sorry!
she will go to bring it back to him]

The third time is right along near the end of the cooking endeavors. He wanders in from a different direction every single time -- but this time it looks like he... has just come in from outside. There's a distinct waft of cold air and breeze coming in with him.
Maybe some leftover snow, too. Regardless of all that he shakes his head and makes his way to the fridge and... extracts a book from the freezer?? What.]
I knew I had to have left it somewhere... Oh. Carbide-san? I didn't notice you were cooking, but, you've been here a long time, haven't you?
[How did he not notice him cooking.]

. . . He's doing a weird thing where he stands off to the side and just stares intensely at the burners instead of Ash when he's talking. Hm. It's fine, probably.]
I don't need anything.

If someone’s offering you free food, just take it. [ his eyes slide sideways to look at Lio. And that odd fascination he’s showing the burners but you know what? You do you, Gooseberry. ]
