WEEK ZERO: MINGLE
WEEK ZERO
OCCUPANCY: 36
For those of you counting along, you'll find that it's been three days since you've arrived at Master Blue's mansion. On this lovely Monday morning, the weak winter sun shines in through the spotless windows. The curtains in the ballroom have been drawn closed and cannot be moved away from the back wall during the daylight hours. The scent of a hot and delicious breakfast wafts from the direction of the dining hall at 7am, and small creaks and groans in the house urge you to awaken.
Perhaps you're a late riser though. No matter! There's still plenty of food you can make for yourself and ways for you to amuse yourself. Though the decor's been taken down, leftover Valentine's candy remains abundant, and a chilly breeze drifts through the halls. Best of all, all damage inflicted on the house has been repaired. In addition, a new placard has been mounted in the entryway.
As you carry on with your day in the mansion and explore the rooms provided, you may come to find that starting today it will appear as though you've all lost the use of one of your senses. Your vision may have grown dim, or maybe you really can't smell the enticing treats in the dining hall after all. How unfortunate.
Then again, something doesn't seem quite right. Walking through the halls, nothing seems terribly out of place. However, turning the corner or entering a room you will find someone who looks a little too much like yourself behaving in a fairly inappropriate manner. You would never read something so lewd. Who would ever think that you would wear something so pink? These mannerisms may seem innocent to others, but you can't help but disapprove.
Too bad no one else can see them.
Come Monday at noon, you will also find a new surprise. The wooden box with your name on it can now be opened, and a rustling crackle of static can be heard from overhead. Try as you might, you won't be able to find the speakers but this message will play loud and clear for all.

[ Goodbye soppy pancakes, you're going into the bin ]
no subject
So much of this is happening without any kind of input from ken and it's getting to him real fast. he's definitely not wanting to make it into a scene because there's been enough fighting but... ]
Hey. [ he will be a bit snappish. ] You didn't have to throw it out.
[ even if no one should be eating it. ]
But I guess congee.
[ because that's food for sick people ://// ]
no subject
[ Eat it? Not an option. There was no other option besides the bin. He's very matter-of-fact about this, clearing off the plate and letting it soak in the sink so the syrup doesn't become a rock on it, and then puts a pot on the stove for congee.
Rice, sesame oil, beef, green onions, salt, pepper... ]
What else do you like in your congee?
no subject
Plain is just fine. [ he's been less grumpy and more grateful that ayabe is actually doing as he says he was going to do. though it is still really insulting over all. ] Nothing too complicated.
[ nor does he feel that particularly sick?? everything was fine yesterday. ]
no subject
Nothing too complicated is just as well for him, so he sticks with the usual ingredients and even though congee's not supposed to be very flavorful so it's easy on the stomach, he dips a spoon into the pot and holds it out for Ken to take before he serves it. ]
Here, let me know if it needs more salt or anything like that.
no subject
what was the thing he learned? walk away from a situation when youāre mad and come back to address it later when youāre calm again?
⦠]
I can feed myself. [ a thing easier said that done. clearly. he'll take the spoon from ayabe and take a taste test of the congee. ] And it tastesā¦hot. And soft.
[ because those two are flavors that people use. ]

Do you think you'll be able to finish a bowl, or is it too hard to choke down? Food is nutrition, even if you can't enjoy it.
[ That's the larger problem to him, that Ken just stops eating because what's the point if you can't taste anything? ]
no subject
If I donāt, Iāll starve, wonāt I?
[ very pragmatic of him. ]
no subject
[ He tries to think of what will help, but it's mostly the opposite problem that people have- mostly old people who can't eat but can still taste, when for Ken it's the other way around. ]
So what do you think would be easier for you, something you can drink like a smoothie, or something crunchy so there's texture to make up for the lack of taste? You should still be able to smell the food, right? I can work with that.
no subject
I can still smell things just fine.
[ a small blessing that only his taste has gone kaputz. ]
I'm not sure if crunchy would help, but I don't mind trying it.
[ when nothing taste like anything (or just SUPER bland) then what's the point of being worried about what he's eating? the logic that he's slowly slipping into. ]
no subject
Alright. We can work with smell, and something that doesn't take a lot of chewing so it won't be in your mouth for a long time. Karaage?
[ Fried chicken can be spiced so it will smell good and be something to focus on, and it's something Ken can eat quickly and still be filling and nutritious. ]
no subject
I like karaage.
[ he would comment about how he doesn't like how oily it is but given how he can't taste the oil... moot point. ]
We could try that.
no subject
But Ayabe will make karaage for lunch and they can both go HM about how to not let Ken starve over the week. ]
