WEEK ONE: MINGLE
WEEK ONE
OCCUPANCY: 34
Rise and shine, little monsters. A new week is waiting just for you. The events of yesterday may have been hard to stomach, but time heals all wounds, after all. The damages the house has incurred over the last week have been reverted and the staff is hard at work fulfilling their roles in this mansion. A piping hot breakfast is served in the dining room promptly at 7am, every square inch of floor and furniture has been cleaned spotless, and...the sound of birds chirping fills the hallway. The sun's shining brightly through the glass windows, and the curtain has been drawn back from the doors in the ballroom. The barriers blocking off the stairs down to the basement and to the balconies have been removed, and all guests may now explore these areas.
For anyone who ventures into the ballroom, a new change may become apparent. Should you choose to look at the plaques long enough, two images will flicker and change sporadically. While Haruka's portrait remains the same, on occasion it will change to an image of a pale, scratched up woman with yellow foam dripping from the corner of her lips. Likewise, Nikki's portrait looks just like herself, though if you blink you may miss it changing into the image of a large, rabid rat. There is no rhyme and reason for the change...though perhaps it serves as a reminder to those who remain.
Additionally, the house rules have been moved from the ballroom and back into the hallway, mounted in the entryway as they were.
But with this new bit of freedom comes another strange set of circumstances, you see. Starting today you'll find that the urge to give in to some nasty little traits has grown stronger. Greed, Pride, Jealousy....any of those seven deadly feelings will begin to bubble up inside you. Can you remain calm under the weight of your sins?
Perhaps so. Perhaps you're the type who's capable of ignoring these feelings even in your worst moments. You may be a beacon of hope for those who struggle with their emotions, but something else seems amiss. Even if you've managed to avoid those prickly feelings, some of you may experience a brain fog, making your thoughts hazy and hard to focus. Others may find themselves with a constant craving for sustenance, an insatiable hunger...though it may not be for food alone. And others still...it is a bit alarming for your arm to detach itself from your body, isn't it? Why would your feet run away without you? Best take stock of all of your limbs now because for the next week they may be just a bit too easy to remove. Don't lose your head over it though. They'll reattach easily enough.
You may experience only some of these events. Then again, maybe you're unlucky and you're experiencing all of these events at different points in time. Time is of the essence, however, and come Monday at noon a rustling crackle of static can be heard from overhead. Try as you might, you won't be able to find the speakers but a message will play loud and clear for all.

At that, Zenitsu attempts to straighten just a little bit. Why is he getting yelled at when he was told to climb like he was climbing a tree? So unfair! He manages maybe a couple inches, and there he stays when the horses start to move. Not long after they leave the stable, he pipes up.]
Didn't it say they like to show off?
no subject
Zenitsu's quarter horse has suddenly zoomed ahead, jerking the lead right out of his hand. Ah--? Well, there goes Zenitsu.]
Wa--STOP! Grab the reins! [He has to dig his heels into his own horse to get it to go. But it doesn't wanna yet.] Come on!
no subject
W-wait! Slow down. We're leaving those two behind . . .
[The quarter horse clings to newfound freedom with its ineffectual rider. Fix this, Jin Ling!]
Help!
no subject
[The second jab of his feet into the horse's side gets it to finally go. Except... it's just as wild as the quarter horse. It leaps forward and throws its back legs in the air, and Jin Ling flies forward to smash right into the horse's sturdy neck.
OW.
He clutches the reins in one hand and cover his face with the other. The horse takes off in a mad gallop.]
YOU STUPID HORSE! NO!
no subject
The horses run wildly. On the one hand, they're pretty much mapping out the garden on their own. On the other hand, Zenitsu is losing years of his life. When he catches a blur of Jin Ling at some point, he cries out as he clutches the reins for dear life with his head all but resting against the horse's neck.]
How, how do I go slower!
[And is Jin Ling okay?]
no subject
IT'S....fine.]
You have to--turn its head! [The hand comes down so he can talk and, yeah, the bottom half of his face is bloody.] Pull back on the right rein so its head turns, and push in on the right side with your foot!
no subject
On reflex, Zenitsu reaches for his own face. He drops the rein in the process and quickly moves his hand to pick it back up.]
You're bleeding! Your face is bleeding! What happened? Are you gonna be all right? Hey!
[Already the horses have departed, leaving Zenitsu to go about not breaking his face alone. With a horrified sound, he pulls back and pushes his foot in as he was told. Thing is, this horse is terribly wild! Is it even going to listen to him?]
no subject
[Well, they've split off again, so nevermind. He is getting his own reins bloody, but he's also desperate to try to calm down his own horse. They're... not acting crazy so much as simply running around very fast?! He hates it.
Yanking on one side of the reins, he digs his heel in to get the horse to think it's going to have to make a turn. In doing so, it has to slow down so it doesn't fall over. WHEW. It at least comes to a manageable pace, but unfortunately, he keeps having to tug it in a small circle to stop it from zooming off again.
As soon as he gets tired of spinning and lets up, the horse leaps away again. GOD. Maybe he can steer it up by Zenitsu's.]
no subject
He heaves a breath as his rapidly beating heart slows. But just as he's calmed his nerves, Jin Ling and his horse come around from the corner. The quarter horse perks up at the sight of this lively pair and jumps, then off it goes into a jolly run beside its friend.
Zenitsu wails.]
You stopped just a second ago! Why are you running again? [He faces Jin Ling with his eyes screwed shut.] This is all your fault!
no subject
[When he gets up beside Zenitsu, he hauls one arm back and socks the other boy roughly in the side of the arm.] Stop crying like a baby! [At least they're only sprinting together and not madly barreling through the whole outside, tearing up the place.]
I'm not going to be blamed if you break your neck, so don't let go until they've finished doing whatever they're trying to do!
no subject
[What if he had hit the horse on accident? Jin Ling, think about the consequences.
Nevertheless, Zenitsu sniffles. The horses aren't running around as crazily as they were before. The pace they've adopted is more manageable, even though he doesn't have control over where they go. Seems like they'll just have to wait for the horses to tire themselves out from running all over the garden. He holds the reins close.]
