WEEK TWO: TRIAL

Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey.

Despite the events of the day before, when you wake up on Saturday it almost feels as though nothing is out of place. Breakfast is still served at 7am on the spot, the house is still peaceful, and yet the distinct feeling that something isn't quite right continues to follow you wherever you go.

It soon becomes obvious that today is a different kind of day. One by one, all of you will begin to feel the urge to return to the ballroom where this event began. Try as you might, you'll find that these feelings can't be easily ignored despite your best efforts. Should you find yourself still resisting by 11:55am, a strong unseen force will guide you straight into the ballroom.

When all have gathered in the room, the doors will lock behind you at 12pm sharp. The feast table has been set to provide guests with hors d'oeuvres and beverages, but that's not all. In the center of this table rests a large wooden box and two baskets of crayons and notecards.

And of course, seated in front of the wall of profile plaques are...well. Two of your lovely hosts. Peach and Plum wait patiently for all to gather before drawing attention.

"Someone here is a murderer," they say, pointing up at the plaque of the house rules.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the third trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

While there was a mini-investigation on Friday, today is the day participants can really dive in to investigate areas in the game setting, check over the body and review evidence that they find! Please see the toplevels in this post for more information. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. One of your hosts will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously. Please also be sure to read the voting page carefully, as we're trying a fun new bonus mechanic this game!

First things first.... the infirmary should be on our list to investigate today. There was some blood, as well as a dripping sink and an open cabinet. Probably there's something missing.

[Luna looks EXHAUSTED, her hair surprisingly kept down for once. Since there's a billion people already at the bodies, she'll clear her throat.]

I think it would be best to talk about where we all were Thursday night, and, um... what happened, if anything.

A whole bunch of us were in the library, and we all got little voodoo dolls of ourselves!

STEFANO'S RESULTS

So... Stefano had his neck sliced? Didn't match with a kitchen knife or a scalpel, but I dunno, I didn't look that close.

He was holding this over his neck, though. [he holds up the hello kitty camera.] It had a photo taken. It... looks like Stefano took a picture of his own wound? I'm gonna guess the killer did it, but... weird.

That was pretty much all I found.

Meltryllis is-- was [hm] the one responsible for last week's killing. Some still received rewards for correct voting, proving her guilt.

I don't know if she was killed by someone acting on their own - it seems this information has spread rapidly - or if by another monster. There were likely two that were acting during the night. It seems when we do not catch one, they continue to multiply.

Looks like the chandelier fell on someone. There's a pool of blood under it.

This bullet was on the floor, among the shards and blood.

Melt's Body

She's burned all over. Second and third degree burns, but it looks like it might've started on her legs. They were worse, and some of her hair was singed off. It doesn't look like she burned very long. Maybe just a few minutes.

[Crossing his arms. He's pretty calm recounting this, though.]

But I'm not sure the fire was what killed her! She was shot in the eye. Looks like a gunshot to me. And then she was stabbed by something sharp into her forehead. Either of those seem like they would have been enough to kill somebody. But I have a theory on that. Neither head wound had an exit wound, so I have to think maybe she was shot and stabbed while transformed.

Um. Aside from that? She had some paper in her sleeve, like a letter, but it was burnt up. And she had more of those scuffs on her legs like she had last week, and scratches on her wrists and hips - so maybe there was a struggle? [Galo, you sweet, sweet himbo.] There were also bite marks on her, but like. Kinda fangy bites. And someone scattered flowers on her, which is the creepiest part.

INFIRMARY + FURNACE SUMMARY

[hello, nie huaisang is here to... help, for once! his fan is not held in his hand for once, though, he's got like three of them tucked in his belt instead, and in his hands there are a bottle of painkillers and some disinfectant!

also he still looks like he just rolled out of bed because no one has saved his hair, god. his clothes are mismatched and everything but he's HERE. he's HELPING.]

Ah, young master Kim, Missile, and I examined the infirmary, and then the room with the- what were they called? Furnaces?

[maybe? anyway.]

In the infirmary, some of the bandages were missing, and- [he holds up the items in his hands, but just a little bit, to indicate them.] These look like they've been used as well? Young master Kim says they're painkillers and disinfectant... did anyone who was there the other day take them?

[please let that be the answer.]

And then in the- furnace room, there was some blood leading in from the door, and we found ashes inside one of them... Missile said they smelled like blood.

Have I missed anything? Oh, wasn't there something wrong with the basin-

[ before anyone has any time to react, though, she yawns and pushes her hair out of her eyes, revealing them to be normal, albeit glasses-less. also she's wearing pjs because i said so. ]

Man, I slept like the dead... [ she blinks and looks around... and then Realizes Something when she squints and it becomes very apparent she's not in the furries' bedroom. ] Oh, crap. Did we already start?

DUCK POND SUMMARY

Akira, Hunter and I took a look at the duck pond. There was a trail of water and slime going from the mansion to the pond, and a trail of water from the garden to the pond. There were footprints near the pond as well - about the same size as Akira's feet? Maybe like a half inch difference?

[ Important trail stuff out of the way, he just holds up the metal thing he's holding in his hand. It's! Just a whole ass gun. ]

Found this in the water, a couple of feet from the shore. Fired once, two bullets left.

Annnd there's a load of bone shards in the bottom of the pond? And I mean shards. Like something made of bone just exploded on itself. Hunter's got those if you want to take a look at exploded bone. [ He's just glancing over at Akira and Hunter ] Anything I missed?

FEET CHECK

The Trumpet Origins (third floor)

Hai hai~ Okay. We went up to the third floor and it's a mess. There's water and sludge every where. It appears to be heading towards the stairs, but it stops before reaching there. There was also a trail of blood that starts from the chapel and ends in the direction towards the furnace room.

[ There's a pause as he looks over at Toi, like he's pondering something for a moment. ]

The music room was in a similar state of the halls, but it was completely trashed. There was a large hole in the floor, the pipe organ was crashed into or slammed through, and there's instruments every where. It looks like something may have came up through the floor.

[ Yeah leaving off the trumpet falling. ]

[BENDS SPACE AND TIME FOR BODY DEETS-- After finishing his examination of Mammon's body:]

Mammon-san's body is crushed and covered in glass shards, which explains what happened to the chandelier. There's a stab wound on the right side of his upper chest. I found wooden splinters inside once I took a closer look, but it doesn't appear to be from a wooden stake. The wound is longer and thinner, puncturing his lung. Judging from the angle, I would say there's a good chance someone pinned him down and stabbed downward.

There are additional injuries on his head. Gashes, and a circular indent on his forehead... I believe a billiard ball would be about the right size for it. Though I'm not certain what could have produced the slashes. I found a bruise on the small of his back, as well. It doesn't have a particular shape to it, however. [He pauses. And then he looks to the side, eyebrows furrowed.] Um... Mammon-san had human bites and scratches certain parts of his body, too. The scratches may be from Wednesday, but the bites on his neck and arm looked... recent. Some of them broke through skin.

[A BEAT.]

I have reason to believe the scratches, at least, may be from Meltryllis-san. [...] His canines are slightly sharp, for those who may be wondering.

[Yeah.]

SECOND FLOOR SUMMARY

Hey, okay, so - here's the second floor.

There was a shitton of smoke from room fifteen, so Galo went to put it out. A trail of sludge and water up the stairs, too, and blood from room twelve to the stairs.

There was a big hole in the ceiling? Leads up into the music room because there was a like, horn that fell on Galo's face. [ hehehe. ] Uh - I found a wine bottle and a stash of stuff I'm assuming Mammon shoved under his bed. Room twelve was all fucked up. No blood, just a sign of a struggle.

Galo found slivers of metal, I think, and Lio said that something crashed through the ceiling into room fifteen, caught on fire, and then flew out the balcony. Lemme know if that's everything, you two.

To start with, I don't have any memory problems or anything like that. Try not to assume that about people, or you might let someone else walk away.

She and I were in the music room. [a beat.] Again, I'm really sorry, Plum! Talked for a while. We started duelling close to midnight since she was getting a little tired of waiting for me to kill her.

—Oh, the scuff marks are apparently from my sword. Don't know how she got the ones last week, but the new ones are from me.

She transformed on midnight on the dot. I don't think they can turn before then...? But the rest is pretty much as you guys figured it—I lured her to my room, which I set on fire, and then I left out the balcony.

She slammed me into the pond and then tried to eat me, which was when the skull activated and I stabbed her. [he thinks.] Oh, and yeah, I don't know about the footprint or the gun. I still have mine—not right now, but the only evidence I "tampered" with was Meltryllis's body, since I moved her to her room afterwards.

CHAPEL + BELL TOWER FINDINGS

[ ken has no idea that babo kim just outed himself as one of the killers when he arrives (with zenitsu still using him as a shield???). ]

Hello Akechi-san, Zenitsu, and myself are back from the chapel and we found another gun and a bullet. [ he'll allow akechi to show off the evidence if he wants...or not. ] The whole place was a mess with blood everywhere with a trail from the chapel heading towards the furnace.

I think it's safe to say that between the two places, whatever happened, happened at the chapel first.

On my way towards the bell tower there was also a broken vial of holy water and a bloodied knife.

[ both things that ken has in his hands. the broken fragment of the bottle is being held carefully!! he does not want to cut himself. ]

[Zenitsu, on the verge of tears that he somehow managed to hold back at the chapel, continues to cling to Ken by the shoulders. Investigations are so scary. He nods once Ken has finished sharing their findings. Yes, all of this is true! Can he leave now?

There are currently three culprits. All three are currently still alive - one is Babo Kim, as we know.

There were two monster transformations during the night. One was Meltryllis, who did not commit a murder. Which means one of the deaths was an independent actor, not acting as a monster.

The monsters are different creatures - so not the same as Meltryllis' transformation into the water serpent.

We need to find the other monster. Voting for Babo Kim is a waste of a life. He has attempted to help us, and Meltryllis, and if you do not help to seek the truth of the other murders now and instead give up and vote for him, you are acting as our enemy.

duck pond: footprint that matches akira, luna, hunter, shima and mammon. gun found in the pond. two bullets in the chamber, one missing, was only fired once. used to shoot the chandelier?

third floor: drops of blood from chapel towards furnace room. murder occurred in chapel and then killer went to furnace room to clean up? killer was injured? chapel place of stefano's death?

chapel + bell tower: gun and bullet found up there as well. chapel a mess with blood everywhere. large puddle near altar. no blood was found where bullet was. it wsa lodged in the pew. trail from chapel heading to furnace. broken bottle of holy water and a bloodied knife found in chapel.

OTHER:

three culprits. two monster transformations, one was melt. all three culprits are alive, including the second monster

Hey hey, everyone! I would like for you all to stand up straight with your arms out for a moment.

[ He's going to be picking up Missile while he says this. Then just going to approach each person in the room. Just going to hold the dog up almost like he's a two handed metal detector. Starting down by people's feet and raising him up to sniff around their body, arms, hands, and then head.

They will be checking for any fire or burnt smells. They will also be looking for duck pond smells and anything that smells like gun powder. ]
