WEEK THREE: TRIAL

Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey.

Despite the events of the day before, when you wake up on Saturday it almost feels as though nothing is out of place. Breakfast is still served at 7am on the spot, the house is still peaceful, and yet the distinct feeling that something isn't quite right continues to follow you wherever you go.

It soon becomes obvious that today is a different kind of day. One by one, all of you will begin to feel the urge to return to the ballroom where this event began. Try as you might, you'll find that these feelings can't be easily ignored despite your best efforts. Should you find yourself still resisting by 11:55am, a strong unseen force will guide you straight into the ballroom.

When all have gathered in the room, the doors will lock behind you at 12pm sharp. The feast table has been set to provide guests with hors d'oeuvres and beverages, but that's not all. In the center of this table rests a large wooden box and two baskets of crayons and notecards.

And of course, seated in front of the wall of profile plaques are your three lovely hosts. Peach, Plum and Pumpkin wait patiently for all to gather before drawing attention.

"Someone here is a murderer," they say, pointing up at the plaque of the house rules.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fourth trial!

We'll go over a few notes briefly as we will be playing this trial a bit differently than other games.

While there was a mini-investigation on Friday, today is the day participants can really dive in to investigate areas in the game setting, check over the body and review evidence that they find! Please see the toplevels in this post for more information. To help with the ease of the trial and for IC mechanics, only one location may be visited at a time. One of your hosts will also be accompanying you on these visits.

Most importantly, before the trial is over, please place your character's vote over on the voting page. Voting will close at 9pm EST/6pm PST, and will serve as our activity check for the week, so please be sure you get your vote in before it ends unless you have contacted us previously. Please also be sure to read the voting page carefully, as we're trying a fun new bonus mechanic this game!

[Okay, so what's up with the blood near the base of the stairs? Is it a puddle, or just more oddly straight streaks? How much blood is it and what shape is it in?]

[inaudibly]

[Since everyone is looking around the room;]

Feels staged. Intentional.
[All this blood is actually sort of... orderly!!!??

Anyway he's joining Babo Kim by the basement stair because he wants to see if it also just abruptly stops like the second floor stair blood or not.]

[ The streaks look straight enough! Almost as if someone was making sure to drop blood around the first floor. The heel mark is smaller than Babo's own by a bit. It's streaky like someone accidentally stepped in that blood though...

There's not a lot of blood in general, just those small streaks around the entrances. There's enough to make a mess should someone step in them, but that's it. They don't go down to the stairs either... although Nic will be able to see that there is some dirt down those stairs! ]

[well, regardless, agni's heading down the stairs and into the basement. ahoy!]

Yeah. Think someone made a trap to catch footprints, maybe?

[He can't think why, but the three of them probably have to be fairly careful walking around, right? Anyway, since the stairs are right near the kitchen, he's going to poke his head in there. That's why, and not because the mods included it in this.]

[inaudibly]

[Nic is still Unsure about Galo's compentency, so he's gonna hang back while Galo goes in the kitchen.

And he's gonna once again investigate that Dirt. It's not truly physical or able to be touched like all the other weird phantom evidence, right?]

[cluedin]

[ The dirt leads him all the way to the laundry room! Agni can go wash his clothes now. Or maybe not, since the first thing he'll notice in the laundry room is that there's an overflowing washing machine. The mess...

Nic can touch the dirt because it's Saturday! It's dirt. It feels like dirt. There's no secret there it's just. Dirt.

Everything looks fine in the kitchen at first glance... wanna take a closer look, Galo? because of instincts and not at all because of mod prompting? ]

[stop giving agni investigations that involve water, he doesn't like it!!]

Aaah, come on...

[is the washing machine still on? can he turn it off.]

[Rude, Nic. Anyway, yes. Galo is going to first check the refrigerator and freezer. Any sign of body parts storage in here? He'll also check to see if any knives seem to be missing.]

[inaudibly]

[Well jeez, it's just dirt huh. Guess he'll just follow it down the stairs after babo kim, since so far nothing exploded in the kitchen. Probably Galo's fine.

The dirt only leads to the laundry room, right? Nowhere else?]

[cluedin]

[ The washing machine is still on! There are soap duds everywhere ... but now that he's turned it off, he may be able to see that there's something besides soap and water in the washing machine!! Wow.

Nothing in the fridge, but Galo will find a few traces of blood in the freezer... right where there's an empty space big enough to fit a human head. Hmmm. And since he's looking at the knives after, he might notice that there's a touch of red on the knife block...?

The dirt only leads to the laundry room! There isn't a lot of it either, just some down the stairs and on the shore leading there. ]

[oathic]

[sighing, he'll open the washing machine to see what else is in it...]

[burningrescue]

[Yuck!! Anything else amiss with the freezer at all, or is it pretty much just that the head was stored here?]

Yeah. Head was definitely in the freezer. This monster is gross!

[Anyway, he'll check that knife block closer. What's up?]

[inaudibly]

[Galo yells to no one because even if Nic hadn't silently already gone downstairs, he wouldn't have been able to hear it. He should bring the knife down for Nic to look at later, though.

Nic is on standby to grab some gross limb if that's what's in there when Babo Kim opens the machine. This is now their investigation thing. Babo Kim wanders into water and Nic retrieves the gross dead flesh therein.]

[cluedin]

[ Inside the washing machine is ... a full outfit!!! It's soaping wet, but it's clean, at least? So many bubbles...

There's just the head hole in the freezer! If Galo looks closer, he'll see what looks like a speck of blood on the knife block, in between two knives. Mysterious. ]

[oathic]

[well. nic can retrieve the outfit? what kind of outfit is it. how big.

anything else in the laundry room, or just more bubbles?]

[burningrescue]

[But no knives missing? Well, he's going to do a thorough search for anything else that looks out of place or dirty in the kitchen. Any more blood splatters or footprints?

Also, he's talking to the radio, Nic!!!]

[inaudibly]

[Well excuse me/Nic for forgetting about the thing that has no relevance to him!!!

Anyway he'll retrieve the outfit he supposes??? Might as well. Does it look familiar at all??]

[cluedin]

[ Nope! All the knives are there. Just now with blood on the block holding them. How odd.

There's nothing else in the laundry room. The outfit does look sort of familiar... probably especially to Babo Kim, since he's probably seen something extremely similar in his room's shared wardrobe at least once. ]

[uh.

does it look like something jin lin might wear.]

There's blood on the knife block. Also, Babo Kim and Nic went downstairs and didn't come back, so I hope there's not a whole other body down there!

[He's going to check all of the knives in the knife block to see if any have blood on them.]

[inaudibly]

[Nic just gonna... hold the clothes up so Babo Kim can inspect them since he seems to recognize them more than Nic does.]

[cluedin]

[ They sure do, Agni! Weird.

And it's a good thing Galo looked at all the knives, since two of them have blood on them! Gross. That's completely unsanitary for the block. :( ]

anything else in the basement? otherwise, agni'll gesture to the stairs to suggest they should regroup with galo.]
